Race to the Shield: What scenarios are out there for FC Dallas

Some things still need to happen for FCD to land their second title of 2016.

We all know FC Dallas is currently chasing a historic treble in 2016. They got the US Open Cup last month and are just a couple games away from potentially securing their second trophy in the form of the league’s Supporters’ Shield, given to the team with the best regular season point total.

Right now it is really a two horse race between FC Dallas and the Colorado Rapids. Our pals over in the Dallas Beer Garden put this handy chart together to show what can happen and how FCD can win the Shield this month.

Basically the best bet we need for FCD is to either win out this month against Seattle and LA and hope the Rapids stumble at least once. But in all honesty I would much rather see the Rapids stumble twice over their next two games and we go into the Seattle game just needing a point.

Again, a lot can happen between now and then but this is a solid look at what all can happen in the final three weeks of the regular season.
