Squad Selection: How reserve-heavy does FCD go in final CCL game?

New, comments

FCD needs just a draw to advance.

MLS: Seattle Sounders FC at FC Dallas Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

FC Dallas is back in action tomorrow night as they wrap up CONCACAF Champions League group stage play with a trip to Guatemala to battle CD Suchitepequez.

The two sides drew 0-0 in their previous meeting last month at Toyota Stadium and will now battle in a winner takes all meeting to determine who wins the group and advances to next spring’s quarterfinals.

FCD only needs a draw in this one to advance as they managed to shutout the Guatemalan champions in their previous meeting. How Oscar Pareja handles his lineup will be a pretty big topic of discussion for this game though as he has to deal with injuries to key players and a trip to LA this Sunday to close out the regular season.

Here is what we do know of in terms of availability.

OUT: Zach Loyd (concussion), Mauro Diaz (Achilles), Carlos Ruiz (ankle), Kellyn Acosta (undisclosed injury)

LOAN: Moises Hernandez (Rayo OKC)

SUSPENDED: Aubrey David

Acosta is healthy and will be available for Sunday’s game but it would be a bit surprising to see him play tomorrow night considering he sat out training so far this week. The club did state that he didn’t pick up any major injuries in the win over Seattle on Sunday.
