Sporting used a second half surge from Benny Fielhaber and Dom Dwyer to help find their first win in over a month.
The Dallas defense would keep Sporting in check for the first 65 minutes in this one as Homegrown keeper Jesse Gonzalez would come up big with six saves. Fellow Homegrown player Victor Ulloa would also score his first goal in the loss.
FCD came out in a new formation in this one as they tried to weather the storm from Sporting. The home side would find some momentum midway through the first half and in the 27th minute would see one of their first real opportunities on goal. Seth Sinovic came up the right side of the field and would attempt a pass from the outside only to see Zach Loyd make a diving tackle on the play. The ball however would find its way to Dwyer and he took the chance to rip a shot from 12-yards out only to have it block by Walker Zimmerman.
Gonzalez came up big in the second half on a couple of Graham Zusi headers in the 53rd minute. But Sporting would finally get their breakthrough in the 65th minute on a foul by newcomer Ezequiel Cirigiliano. Fielhaber took the kick from 25-yards out and blasted it by Gonzalez.
Fielhaber doubled his tally on the night moments later on a penalty kick caused by Gonzalez on Dwyer.
Dallas showed some signs of life as they got one back in the 80th minute from Ulloa. The Wylie-native combined with Fabian Castillo on the play as Ulloa sent a tough low-ball behind the Sporting keeper.
The home side would get an insurance goal minutes later in the 83rd minute from Dwyer. The Sporting forward roofed a shot from just inside the area after receiving a pass from Paul Nagamura.
Dallas will return to action next Saturday as they travel to California to battle the LA Galaxy.
