FC Dallas comes out flat and falls 2-0 to Chicago Fire

The Brimstone Cup remains in Chicago for another season.

The winning streak for FC Dallas ends at five games as the Chicago Fire will retain the Brimstone Cup for another year following a 2-0 win on Sunday evening.

FC Dallas would turn the ball over in the midfield in the 4th minute as David Accam would feed the ball back to Jason Johnson, who would immediately play a through ball back to Accam. Matt Hedges would misplay the tackle and Accam would wisely beat Dan Kennedy at the far post for the game's first goal.

Chicago would dominate most of the first half with possession and chances. But Dallas would finally show some signs of life in the 26th minute as Mauro Diaz would play Atiba Harris into the far side of the penalty box. Harris would play the ball back to the top of the penalty box for Victor Ulloa who would take a one-time shot that would go just wide of the net.

Dallas would come close again in the 38th minute on a free kick by Diaz. The Dallas playmaker would loft a ball into the box where Hedges would get on the end of it but the veteran defender's attempt on goal would go just wide of the post.

Chicago would go down to ten men though in the 79th minute with a red card to Matt Watson. The Chicago midfielder would come in late on a tackle in the middle of the field on Atiba Harris, giving the center official no doubt to pull out the red card.

The Fire would get an insurance goal from the penalty spot in the 84th minute from Shaun Maloney. Kellyn Acosta would be called for a foul in the penalty box on a ball that he was trying to clear out of the box.

Dallas will get a break in the action next weekend for the first time in 2015. They'll return to action in two weeks as they host the LA Galaxy.
