The United States women's national team look to win their third World Cup title today as they battle the defending World Cup champions Japan. This is a rematch of the 2011 World Cup final that Japan won on penalty kicks.
Both teams got a bit of luck in their semifinal matches to earn a spot in the finals. The US used a missed penalty kick from Germany to help boost getting a penalty kick of their own by Carli Lloyd. Japan got an own-goal in stoppage time from England to help book their spot.
The United States is hoping to stay unbeatable at this tournament, having not given up a goal in 513 minutes. The last time someone scored on them was way back in the first game of the competition against Australia. Japan on the other hand has only given up three goals in this tournament as well.
One interesting note to point out is that Japan has already played three games in Vancouver during this tournament. They may feel more at home than the Americans at BC Place.
