No tissues needed as FC Dallas dominates Portland Timber 4-1

FC Dallas finished out the month of July on a strong note as they downed the Portland Timbers 4-1 on Saturday night.

Dallas would get a big night out of winger Michael Barrios, who scored two first half goals to help guide the Hoops to their fifth straight win on the season.

Dallas would get on the board first in the 11th minute on a quick counter attack from Kellyn Acosta. The Dallas Homegrown midfielder would push the ball forward from a Portland corner kick to David Texeira. The Uruguayan would slot the ball wide to Barrios would would play Acosta back into the middle of the field. Acosta would then hit a ball back into the penalty box where Barrios would run on and hit it into the back of the net at the near post.

Barrios would double his tally in the 23rd minute in a play set up by Mauro Diaz. The Dallas playmaker would play a long ball to Fabian Castillo in the penalty box, the Dallas All-Star would make one move around a defender and play the ball back to Barrios at the top of the penalty box. Barrios would fire a shot that would hit off Liam Ridgewell's foot and go into the net.

FCD nearly had a third just minutes into the second half from Castillo. The play would come from Victor Ulloa in the midfield as he found Diaz who would slot a perfectly timed ball to Castillo behind the Portland defense. Castillo would make one move around Nat Borchers but his shot would go just a foot wide of the goal.

Portland would pile on some pressure in the second half but Dallas would get their third goal in the 70th minute from Acosta. The Dallas Homegrown would pick up a loose ball in the midfield and dribble it 20 yards to the top of the penalty box where he would stop and fire off a wonderful long-range shot for his second goal of the season.

Dallas would get one more insurance goal in the 86th minute on a penalty kick by Diaz. Barrios would help set up the play that lead to the penalty kick as he got the ball on the wing in space. He would play a through ball to Ulloa who would get tripped up by Jack Jewsbury.

Portland would pull one goal back on a stoppage-time penalty kick by Fernando Adi.

FC Dallas returns to action next Sunday as they head to the Windy City to battle Brimstone Cup rivals Chicago Fire.
