FC Dallas U-16 Academy win Development Academy national title

FCD's future is in this team.

On a night where FC Dallas took a tie for first place in the MLS standings with a win over D.C. United at Toyota Stadium, the club's U-16 Academy squad was doing something special of their own in California. The U-16s downed the New York Red Bulls' U-16 Academy team 4-0 to claim US Soccer Development Academy national title.

FCD dominated New York from start to finish in this one as they got two first half goals from Weston McKinney and Giovanni Montesdeoca. McKinney would open the scoring up in the 11th minute off a cross by Montesdeoca.

Montesdeoca added a goal of his own in the 31st minute as he found his way behind the New York defense.

Devin Vega would make it 3-0 shortly after halftime as the Central Conference Player of the Year would hammer a goal in just 30 seconds into the second half.

FC Dallas would add a fourth and final goal in the last minute of regulation from Juan Ramirez.

FC Dallas finished its playoff run without conceding a goal during the six-game stretch. In their championship season, FCD went 19-3-5 scoring 86 goals and giving up 28.
