FC Dallas vs Houston Dynamo: Preview, prediction and how to watch online

Time for FC Dallas to break their slump.

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

FC Dallas finally makes their return home this weekend in a big Rivalry Week match up against the Houston Dynamo.

FC Dallas is 0-3-3 in their last six matches but did score a big win over Houston in the first meeting of the season back at the beginning of May in Houston.

FC Dallas notes:

*Questionable: Rolando Escobar (hamstring)

Injuries are down in 2015. According to the club's game notes, FC Dallas has lost 52 fewer player‐games due to injuries in 2015 than it did through the first 16 games of the 2014 season. Dallas has missed five players for a total of 26 matches so far this season (1.625 per match) as opposed to 14 players for a total of 78 matches in 2014. On the flip side, the club has lost a ton of players to international call ups this season.

Call ups. FC Dallas has lost a total of 25 player matches for MLS games this season due to international call‐ups. Across all competitions, Dallas has lost 29 player matches.

Shuffling lineups. Since the start of the 2014 season, FC Dallas is 2‐0‐3 in matches that Pareja makes exactly four changes to the starting 11. Four of those five results have come on the road - @ POR, @ COL, @ SJ and @ RSL.

Homegrown depth. Dallas' Homegrown players logged a league high 4,607 minutes or 14% of the team's total minutes in 2014 (61GP, 50GS). Dallas is leading the charge in MLS again this season with 2,937 minutes (18.54%) played by Homegrown players Victor Ulloa, Moises Hernandez, Kellyn Acosta and Alejandro Zendejas. The LA Galaxy rank second with 2,550 minutes played.

Key player for FCD: Fabian Castillo. I'm sticking with Castillo for a second straight game as I see him being the main catalyst in the attack. If he is able to get wide and use the space of the field like he did the last time out against the Dynamo, FCD fans will be in for a fun night.

Biggest question: Will the return home make that much of a difference?

We saw just how good this team could be last week in the USOC when they played out in Fort Worth, but will that effect be even greater in their home stadium tonight? I tend to lean on the fact that it will as this team is looking to overcome their six-game slump. Houston will want to spoil this return home but I'm not too sold on how the Dynamo are going to be able to do that given their current form as well.

I nearly went with a draw in this one just to anger some of you but I could see it go that way. FCD has the healthy roster again to do the same sort of damage that they did in Houston tonight. I think with the energy from the home crowd we'll see a fast start that leads to three points.

FCD 3, Houston 1
