FC Dallas kicks off their 2015 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup run with a fourth round match against USL side Oklahoma City Energy FC.Last season, Dallas was eliminated from the Open Cup in the semifinal round on penalty kicks against the Philadelphia Union at home.
Energy FC beat the Midland/Odessa Sockers (PDL) and in-state rival Tulsa Roughnecks FC (USL) in the second and third round to advance this far in the 2015 Cup. So far this season, OKC has posted a 7-2-3 record in league play this season and leads USL's Western Conference with 24 points. The team is led in scoring by forwards Danni Konig (8) and Kyle Grieg (7).
How to watch
Venue: Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, TX
Online: none (Was told that the facility at TCU couldn't accommodate it)
Projected lineups: I would imagine we'll see a very, very young lineup on the field tonight for FC Dallas. I'm hoping to see some guys like Jesse Gonzalez in goal, more minutes for Alex Zendejas and Coy Craft along with extended time for Michael Barrios and Rolando Escobar. it would also be good to see Otis Earle get his first minutes with the club as well at left back in this one.
Prediction: It won't be easy but I think even a reserve-heavy group should be able to get a win tonight. Just being back in Dallas for a game should be enough to carry them through.
