Once the rain settled on Sunday, one FC Dallas youth squad was able to claim a Dallas Cup title at Toyota Stadium. The FCD 98B Premier U-17s took home the 2015 Dallas Cup championship after downing FC Golden State 2-0.
The FCD squad controlled the run of play in this one as they got goals from Gerber Chavez and Martin Gonzalez to seal the win. FC Golden State played down a man for most of the second half as the play got a bit chippy.
FCD fielded three youth teams in the finals of the Dallas Cup this year, the most of any club in the competition.
Two other FCD sides weren't able to make the most of the home field advantage over the weekend in their title games. On Saturday, FC Dallas Pre Academy lost in the U-14 final to California's AC Brea, 2-1 on penalty kicks. On Sunday, FC Dallas 97 Premier took a 1-0 lead over Mexico's Jaguares de Chiapas in the 13th minute of the U-19 championship, but gave up two second-half goals to fall, 2-1.The loss for the 97 Premier team was the second straight in the Dallas Cup finals.
