May Outlook: Will FC Dallas have their usual spring swoon?

The road gets tougher for FCD in May.

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

The season is about to pick up in a big way for FC Dallas in the month of May. Five games on the horizon, thankfully two less than what the club had to deal with in 2014 in May (may we never live through that kind of month ever again).

It is time once again to go through the month to see what we should expect out of the schedule.

Houston Dynamo - away - May 2 (7:00 pm)

The big Texas Derby game. I won't dive much into it here, but it is a big one.

LA Galaxy - home - May 9 (7:30 pm)

FCD will return home next weekend to battle LA. Right now, the Galaxy are one of the hotter teams in the league. While there will be no more Landon Donovan to headline this game, the Galaxy still have the likes of Robbie Keane and Dallas-native Omar Gonzalez.

New York Red Bulls - home - May 15 (8:00 pm)

Another Friday night game for us to all take in. New York is currently unbeaten on the season despite all the turmoil they went through in the offseason with Mike Petke getting let go, the front office shake up and Thierry Henry retiring. New York has done well so far this season, so this won't be a cake walk of a game.

Montreal Impact - away - May 23 (7:00 pm)

This will be the first of a five-game road trip for FCD. By this point, the Impact could be off of their Champions League hangover. If Montreal is any bit like they are right now though FCD will be facing a fairly banged up team that has some holes throughout their lineup.

Sporting KC - away - May 29 (8:00 pm)

Another tough rivalry type game here. Sporting is always going to be a tough out in their home building. I would expect this game to pick up right where the last meeting between these two clubs left off. While FCD did get the better end of that deal back in March, SKC has the talent to even the score.

Boy, this is going to be a tough month. Three road games, two of which begin a five-game trip...ekk. Those two home games will be no cup cakes as well. Given how April did not go nearly as well as March, I think we could easily see some sort of continual decline in the points gained department here. My gut tells me right off the bat that FCD should get at the very lease six points in this month. That doesn't mean two wins and three losses either.

What do you think is a fair result for the club in May? Six points? Eight? Are you bold enough to say that they will go on a crazy run and gobble up all 15?
