The schedule is about to get tricky for FC Dallas as they begin the first road game of a stretch that will see them out of Dallas for five out of the next seven matches.
This week they travel to Colorado to get a rematch with the Colorado Rapids, a team that embarrassed them 4-0 just two weeks ago.
Colorado is coming off a 3-1 loss last week to Seattle while FCD bounced back with a 3-2 win over Toronto.
FC Dallas notes:
Out: Stephen Keel (foot), Coy Craft (shoulder)
Questionable: Mauro Diaz (knee, hamstring)
National Team Duty:
US U-23s: Walker Zimmerman
Rapids at home. Colorado may have put an end to their winless rut against FC Dallas two weeks ago but their home winless streak still stands. The Rapids are on a 39-week winless streak at home - including the final six games of last season to go with the three so far in 2015. The Rapids have won just one of its last four home matches against FCD. The Rapids' win in the first meeting this year was their first in Frisco since 2012, and ended a three‐game FCD winning streak in the series.
Golden Boot. Forward Blas Perez currently sits tied for second in the league's Golden Boot race with four goals. Fabian Castillo also sits just below him with three goals on the season (tied with several other players).
Finishing April strong. According to the club's game notes, FC Dallas has finished the month of April with two wins in each of the past four seasons.
Key player for FCD: Matt Hedges. I know I had him in this line last week but it should ring true again tomorrow. Hedges was clearly missed in the first meeting between these two clubs.
Biggest question: Will Mauro Diaz return to the lineup?
We're going on four straight games without the playmaker in the middle of the lineup for the Dallas attack. Diaz was said to be more active in training this week, which is a good sign to me that he should be more involved in this one. I'd also really like to see him get more comfortable on the field with guys like Blas Perez, Fabian Castillo and even someone like Michael Barrios. i firmly believe that Diaz on the field could make Barrios worth watching here.
Mu gut tells me this one is heading straight for a draw. FCD has done well to put the 4-0 loss behind them but the defense that the Rapids has impressed me so far this season (outside of last week's result). Both teams know one another very well too, which usually leads to some tighter matches when the schedule lays out like this and the two teams play one another so close on the calendar.
FCD 1, Colorado 1
