Blas Perez receives international call-up for March friendlies with Panama

Dallas will be without their top talisman against Seattle

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Not that this is ever surprising but Blas Perez has officially been called up for a pair of matches for Panama against Trinidad & Tobago (3/27) and Costa Rica (3/31). What this means for FC Dallas is that they'll be without their number one striker for the March 28th match. Losing Perez for any amount of games is never a good thing, but the silver lining here is that it means David Texeira will most likely get the nod. And the opponent that weekend for Dallas? You guessed it, Seattle Sounders.

True to his goal scoring form for Dallas, Blas Perez is second all time in Panama's all time top goal scorers (36). He's currently only bested by current teammate and striker partner Luis Tejada (37). So until Perez officially retires from international duty, expect him to continue to be called up whenever Panama plays.

This also brings up a larger question to debate; should MLS observe the International Break like other leagues in the world whenever these FIFA dates come up? I personally say 'No' and just continue on with the games, but I know not everyone is in agreement.

What do you guys think? Excited for Blas? Sad to see him miss out on a big game against Seattle? Excited that it might mean we have to start Seattle-killer Texeira instead?
