FC Dallas officially re-signs Je-Vaughn Watson

The Jamaican finally signs a new deal with the club.

It may have taken longer than anyone would have expected but FC Dallas finally announced the re-signing of defender/midfielder Je-Vaughn Watson on Wednesday. Terms of his new deal were not disclosed.

Watson appeared in 55 of 68 regular season matches for FC Dallas in the past two seasons, scoring six goals and picking up four assists. He was converted to right back last season and became a full-time starter in the role by the end of the season.

The Jamaican had been holding out for a new contract all winter long, partly I'm told due to the CBA talks and partly because I'm told there were family issues he was sorting out as apart of the delay. I've been told that he spent most of his offseason in Florida

Since he missed the entire preseason with the club, one has to expect that it will take at least a few weeks for him to work himself back into game fitness. But this is good news regardless of that timing. Watson was arguably one of the better fullbacks in MLS in the late stages of 2014 and adding that extra bit of depth in the defense is absolutely vital going forward here.

Are you excited to see Watson return?
