Due to a late arrival in the Alamo City, Oscar Pareja opted not to use his strongest lineup in FC Dallas' final preseason tuneup on Saturday. The result was a 2-1 loss to NASL champions San Antonio Scorpions.
The lone Dallas goal came from Academy player Santiago Agudelo in the second half.
FCD nearly got on the board 15 minutes into the match on a bending ball from Michel that trialist Juan Toja failed to connect in the six-yard box on. The Dallas attack had several good looks like this one on the night including a couple from MLS Rookie of the Year Tesho Akindele. In the 67th minute, Akindele linked up with FCD academy player Aaron Meyer, the Canadian born striker would take a pass from Meyer and first off a hard shot to the near post that caused the San Antonio keeper to make a tough save.
San Antonio would get their first goal in the 70th minute on a counter attack play that resulted in a Cristian Palomeque goal.
The Scorpions would double their lead in the 88th minute on another counter attack play that would be finished off by Cesar Elizondo.
Dallas would finally make a breakthrough in the 89th minute in a late surge by the club. Michel would send in a free kick where Agudelo would finish off in the box.
FC Dallas will return to action next weekend in Frisco as they open up their 2015 season against western rivals San Jose.
