Quickly remind yourself, it was only a preseason game. Furthermore, it was only the first preseason game.
Pareja used a fairly mixed lineup of newcomers, reserve players and trialists in this game with only a couple main starters getting minutes like Dan Kennedy, Victor Ulloa and Moises Hernandez.
The three first half goals for Orlando came from Tony Cascio in the 13th minute, Martin Peterson in the 30th and a penalty kick from Brazilian Designated Player Kaka in 33rd. Danny Mwanga gave the Lions their fourth goal midway through the second half.
Takeaways from this game
Not many. Seriously, given the fact that none of us could watch this game or gather anything from it means its probably best that we didn't see this loss.
Lineup. We don't know yet who all Pareja used off his bench in this one but we do know his first half selection: Kennedy, Hernandez, Atiba Harris, Walker Zimmerman, Saco-Vertiz, Kyle Bekker, Ulloa, Juan Toja, Danny Garcia, Ryan Hollingshead, and Jaineil Hoilett. So off the bat, we're not seeing Mauro Diaz, Fabian Castillo, Matt Hedges (international duty), Blas Perez (international duty) or Zach Loyd. Missing those five shows how important they are to the club.
Rust. From the sounds of things on Twitter and some early reports, there were a lot of bad giveaways in this game that lead to Orlando goals. Part of that happens when you get a mix of guys on the field like this. Because of this rust factor, the chemistry that some of the main guys that played have was probably lacking with the newbies.
Note: once we get the full box score from this, we'll include it here.
