Let's face it, 2014 was a rough year for Designated Player David Texeira. Part of it could have had to do with the fact that he didn't arrive in Frisco until the ladder part of the preseason. The other part of it could have had a lot to do with the fact that MLS is a physically demanding league.
Either way, FC Dallas did not get a ton out of their DP last year. In 19 games played, Texeira only started nine of those games with just four goals and zero assists to show for it. The majority of those goals came against one team too, the Seattle Sounders.
This season, Texeira has to find a way to to improve upon those numbers and make a real impact with his status as a Designated Player*.
[* Note: It should also be noted that Tex will no longer be a young DP like he was in 2015, meaning he'll count more towards the club's salary cap.]
So we are putting this ball in your court, what do you think Texeira will bring to the table in 2015? More of the same? Less production? Or will he finally break out and become a DP star that we all hoped he would become. I'm guessing more of the same.
