Projecting the 2016 FC Dallas First Kick starting lineup

It may be early but time to debate who could be starting on March 6.

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

We're only a couple months away from the start of next season. FC Dallas will start the 2016 season with a home game against the Philadelphia Union on Match 6.

Even though there is still a lot of time to change this we have decided to put together what we think the opening day starting lineup should be right now. While transfers, trades, signings, draft picks and (heaven forbid) injuries could ultimately change this, right now this is the best bet for FC Dallas on opening day.

Yes, this looks awfully similar to the starting lineup that faced Portland in the Western Conference finals back at the end of November. Not a lot has changed since then and given how few transfer rumors are out there right now, no one is really in place to step up and take over a starting spot right now.

I know there are some debates here. Does Tesho Akindele really earn the top up front over newly acquired Maximilano Urruti? Does Oscar Pareja keep someone like Atiba Harris at left back when he could use him further up the field in depth behind Fabian Castillo and Michael Barrios (a move I can see happening in 2016). Does Moises Hernandez return to the starting lineup over Ryan Hollingshead?

My gut tells me the starting striker won't be solved anytime soon. I could also see a potential switch to a 4-4-2 next season if Kellyn Acosta continues to emerge as a big time midfielder for this team.

A lot can and will change between now and March 6 but the early projections appear to be what we've already seen a lot of in 2015.
