FC Dallas to open 2016 season against Philadelphia

Plan now!

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The 2016 season seems like miles away but FC Dallas fans can begin planning for First Kick. According to the season ticket holders on Ticketmaster is claiming FCD will begin the season on March 6 with a visit from the Philadelphia Union.

(Kudos to a couple STHs for sending in the screenshots of this and for the DBG for alerting us in the first place.)

Both the club and the league have yet to confirm the official dates for the 2016 season, much less the First Kick opponents for each club. But a ticket leak like this seems to be pretty valid since it is going out to the season ticket holders.

FCD is unbeaten in eight all-time meetings with the Union, winning four meetings and drawing the other four.

FC Dallas last hosted the Union on a July 4 meeting in 2014 when FCD won that match 2-1 on a own-goal early in the second half. The game also saw United States national team member Maurice Edu pick up a red card late in the match.

Dallas beat the Union 2-0 on the road in 2015.

Edit: The league has confirmed the opening kick dates and FC Dallas will indeed host Philadelphia.
