Personally, I'm liking the Round 7 matchup between Ryan Hollingshead and Tesho Akindele. Both are very different goals but the common thread for me is that I'd describe them both to be "thunderous" goals. Again, just about anything against Houston will get some serious looks but everything about this is beautiful; the wonderful no-look backheel flick from Fabian Castillo, David Texeira making his run to clear space for Hollingshead to run onto and then that "Where in the hell did that come from?" blast from good ol' Ryan "Man Bun" Hollingshead to get the Texas Derby off on the right foot. Lots to love in this first goal.
This is a throwback goal to old school soccer. Take the ball to the end line, whip in a cross, make run into box, head ball into goal. It's simple and effective. Of course, that takes out the narrative of the goal itself, as this late goal put Dallas ahead in the playoff series against Seattle and would have sent Dallas to the next round, had that goal line stayed. And it was Tesho's first touch in the match after subbing on with Walker Zimmerman.
So what do you guys think? Who had the better goal here?
