The league announced the season's Best XI for 2015 on Sunday afternoon during the FC Dallas' playoff game against the Portland Timbers and two of their own have made the roster. All-Star midfielder Fabian Castillo and team captain Matt Hedges help headline the league's best players of the year.
The two helped push Dallas to club-record 60 points and a regular season Western Conference title. The team also were tied for the Supporters' Shield trophy with New York but lost out on a goal differential tiebreaker.
Castillo had a monster year on the flanks that helped him earn his first call up from the Colombian national team for World Cup qualifying. Castillo scored nine goals and helped assist on nine more of his own, a new personal record.
Hedges captained the team and the defense to a new club record 13 shutouts on the season. Hedges came in third in the MLS Defender of the Year race, losing out to Montreal's Laurent Ciman. Hedges committed less fouls and picked up less fouls than Ciman while boasting a better record.
It has been a few years since FC Dallas last had a player make the Best XI. The last player to do so was Brek Shea in 2011.
