Despite going into the playoffs as the number one seed in the Western Conference, it seemed like everyone was picking Dallas to be eliminated, and now they’re silencing the doubters.
"I wouldn’t say we’re even underdogs," said midfielder Kellyn Acosta. "We won our conference."
A lot of athletes try to stay away from what the media writes and says on TV, but many in the Dallas locker room couldn’t help but hear about the comments being made about them. It fueled them during the series with Seattle and will continue to fuel them during the Western Conference Finals vs. Portland.
"It does create a bit of a chip on your shoulder," said defender Walker Zimmerman. "We may be young, but we’re talented, we’re hard working. We think we have what it takes to be a MLS Cup Champion caliber team."
After defeating Seattle, folks around the league are finally starting to see this young and talented FCD side as a threat to win MLS Cup.
"Everyone now has an eye on us," said Acosta. "We’re ready to go. We’re a force to be reckoned with, that’s for sure."
