Matt Hedges earns his first international call up from United States national team boss Jurgen Klinsmann, joining FC Dallas teammate Tesho Akindele.
After calling in 28 players to the USMNT January camp and leaving FC Dallas' Hedges at home once again, Klinsmann received a lot of flack from fans. The call is well deserved and about time.
Hedges is one of now 29 players attending the camp in Carson, California, and one of 15 members of the roster uncapped by the US.
The camp began Monday and will end Feb. 8. After 12 days in California, the team will head to Santiago in Chile for training from Jan. 25 to Jan. 29 as it prepares for its first friendly of the year against fellow 2014 World Cup side Chile on Wednesday, Jan. 28 at Estadio El Teniente in Rancagua. The camp ends with a friendly against Panama at the StubHub Center on Feb. 8 at 1 p.m. PT.
