FC Dallas head coach Oscar Pareja
Overall thoughts on the game:
"It was a good game. Good for both teams. The first half was good for Salt Lake. They created some good chances and then the second half was totally for us. Very unfortunate, well maybe not unfortunate, but a play where we lost our marks and we gave away some points."
On the changes from the first to the second:
"Well we played much better. We were more aggressive. I think that our other forward helped us. We gained a lot more confidence with ourselves in the second half for sure."
On the impact of Tesho Akindele:
"He did a great job. I still think that all the guys that played in the first half put in a lot of effort and energy. But Tesho did help us a lot. Fabian [Castillo] had someone to help him out up there with things going forward. The team found a much better rhythm for sure."
On what Michel brings to the team:
"Michel brings some very special things. He scores goals. His set pieces help us a lot. But I would have to say that his tactical approach to the game pays dividends for us. I was very happy to have him back today. At the same time, I love this team more when things aren't going our way. I can say that today they put all of their heart into this game."
FC Dallas GK Raul Fernandez:
On the defensive effort from FC Dallas:
"They really only took advantage of one bad clearance from us. They were a little lucky with some bounces that went their way but they were able to capitalize on those few key moments."
On taking control of the second half:
"After we tied the game, we had a lot more confidence. Salt Lake was able to find that second goal on a very well worked play. We really wanted to rescue that game but, in the end, we couldn't find a way to do it."
FC Dallas CB Matt Hedges:
Thoughts on the game:
"Disappointing. I don't think we played well. To give up two goals like that is not what we wanted. The guy just coming on the field, we know how to mark him, but it just didn't happen. "
It was an improved performance from last week, can you take any positives?
"We fought back to get in a position to win and to give it up like that is hugely disappointing that's all you can say about that."
How much are you looking forward to getting home with a game next weekend?
"That's the positive, coming home and getting to play in front of our fans and trying to get three points there after two disappointing road games."
FC Dallas CB Zach Loyd:
"I think it's a disappointing result. We were coming in here with high expectations not just for a point but for three trying to rebound from the Chicago game. It's unfortunate to give up another goal on a set piece. For us that's something that we've been strong with for a couple months and these last few weeks we've gotten away from that so I think this week we need to get back to the drawing board and clean up some things on set pieces."
Looking forward to getting home?
"I'm excited we've been talking about getting results here with seven games left. We're still in a good spot for the playoffs and coming home against Vancouver they're right below us. We know it's a big game and I think we're looking forward to being home in our own environment. Back to back weeks on the road is tough for any club."
Second half improved?
"We kind of went back to what we're good at...We're very, very comfortable in a 4-4-2. I think everyone has seen that and I think going back to that was a confidence thing, and guys got back into their rhythm and played better. We came out stagnant and slow and we knew coming here in Salt Lake, I've been here numerous times, and in the first 15 minutes they're on you really hard, and we didn't step up the intensity like we needed to, but I thought we responded well in the second half. It's frustrating to give up another late goal."
"He's great. You could see in Chicago we were missing him. He's the guy in the middle that tactically knows where to be, where to get the ball, and we don't even have to mention set pieces. The guy is amazing whipping in great balls. I don't think he's missed a PK and he had another great goal tonight. That just shows how important he is for us and it was great to have him back this week."
