Rankings Recap: FC Dallas continues to stumble

A second straight road loss saw FC Dallas stumble down the rankings.

Jim Urquhart-USA TODAY Sports

As one might expect, a second straight loss on Saturday hurt FC Dallas in the latest Power Rankings from around the internet.

Here is a look at this week's rankings:

Rank: 5 (Last week: 4)

Comment: Oscar Pareja started making weird lineup choices in big games last year, too. At least this time he seems to realize the error of his ways.

Rank: 3 (Last week: 2)

Comment: FC Dallas dropped a tough 2-1 decision on the road in Utah, where their previously deadly counterattack again deserted them.

After reeling off four straight wins, Oscar Pareja's team has now lost two games in a row, both on the road. It doesn't get any easier from here, either, with a home date against the Whitecaps followed by a date in LA against the Galaxy and a home clash with Sounders in September.

Sports Illustrated

Rank: 5 (Last week: 4)

Comment: A rocket free kick from Michel was Dallas' best opportunity against RSL. Dallas managed just three shots to Salt Lake's 13 at Rio Tinto Stadium - and none on target from the run of play. After a 10-game unbeaten run, FC Dallas has now lost two straight.

Rank: 4 (Last week: 2)

Comment: Two spots is a severe drop for a team that only lost by one at RSL. Compared with how United performed in Utah, Dallas looks like the better team. If it wasn't for the Toros' loss last week at Chicago, we'd be inclined to agree, but recent form suggests Dallas should take this step back, particularly after being so far behind the game over Saturday's first hour.

The Oregonian

Rank: 5 (Last week: 4)

Comment: Have lost two straight after 10-game unbeaten streak. Losses have come in away games at Chicago and at Real Salt Lake. Losing sight of Seattle and Los Angeles at the top of the West, but they can still catch Real Salt Lake for third place and avoid one-game playoff.
