FC Dallas vs Chicago Fire, BDS MotM: Tesho Akindele

The rookie was the one bright spot in a dull game for FCD.

Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports

On Saturday night, FC Dallas lost a tough 1-0 game and really just had a performance full of frustration. The team had several opportunities to score but could not capitalize, including Ryan Hollingshead's volley that struck the crossbar.

In games like this it's very hard to find a bright spot, so I was really just looking for the players that gave the team the biggest opportunities to win. Hollingshead and Tesho Akindele stuck out to me as two guys that consistently found themselves with chances in the final third, just never fortunate enough to get the ball in the net.

I hope that Ryan can continue to improve his finishing, much like Tesho did early in the season, and that hopefully will make a difference in our attacking depth coming down the stretch.

Saturday night, Tesho gave the team a lot of chances to score, and I was happy to see his ball movement continue to improve and have his vision give other guys some chances.

When Fabian Castillo had his best attempt of the game, he received a wonderful feed from Tesho and allowed Castillo to take Fire defender Jeff Larentowicz one-on-one, only to be denied by a terrific Sean Johnson save.

There isn't much to take out of this game, but there are the few positives that Kellyn Acosta got more playing time, and Hollingshead had another game to gain experience. I don't see this being the start of a downward trend, but it is important that the team finds a result in Salt Lake on Saturday.
