FCD got two quick goals in the first half from Matt Hedges and Michel before seeing Fabian Castillo slot one home early in the second half to help push the unbeaten run in league play to eight games.
The attack was spurred by the return of Mauro Diaz to the starting lineup. It didn't take FC Dallas to get on the board either. In the 9th minute of the match after Colorado cleared out a corner kick, Michel sent the ball back into the penalty box. Walker Zimmerman got one header on it but Clint Irwin one hand on it but Hedges was there to bang it into the back of the net.
No more than a minute later Tesho Akindele was sent a ball into the penalty box. Just as the rookie got into the penalty box Marvell Wynne brought him down and the ref immediately pointed to the penalty spot. Michel would step up and convert the penalty for his seventh goal of the year.
Colorado would test the Dallas defense on several occasion in the first half. The best chance came in the 35th minute from Carlos Alvarez. The former Chivas USA midfielder broke free in the Dallas penalty box and put in a shot right at Raul Fernandez who made a nice stop to keep the Rapids off the board.
The Rapids would pressure FCD early in the second half but in the 56th minute Michel would sent in a ball to Akindele but as it deflected off the Colorado defender, Castillo was on the back post to slot it home for the game's third goal.
Colorado would get one back in the 85th minute as Je-Vaughn Watson was called with a push in the back of Gabriel Torres. Colorado's Designated Player would step up to the penalty spot and slot home their lone goal.
The Rapids would end the night with 24 shots to FCD's seven.
FC Dallas returns to action next Tuesday in the semifinal round of the US Open Cup as they host the Philadelphia Union.
