Rankings Recap: Where does FCD fall at the All-Star break?

FC Dallas looking good as we break for All-Star week.

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

FC Dallas put in another solid performance last week. Chivas USA were the victims of a 1-0 loss to FCD. That's another three points in the pocket and another shutout. Now FCD heads home as they prepare for another go-around with Colorado.

Are these rankings right about FCD? Where do you think the Hoops belong? Which team surprised you?

MLSSoccer.com

Rank: 5 (Last week: 5)

Comment: Now unbeaten in seven, and with the attack doing stuff like THIS, it feels like FCD are primed for a run at the top of the West.

ESPN FC

Rank: 10 (Last week: 11)

Comment: FCD seems to have survived the summer doldrums thanks to a seven-game unbeaten streak, one that was extended in a 1-0 win over Chivas USA that saw Tesho Akindele score his third goal in four games. Impressive work by Dallas manager Oscar Pareja.

Sports Illustrated

Rank: 10 (Last week: 11)

Comment: Canadian-born striker Tesho Akindele, the SuperDraft pick out of NCAA Division II college Colorado School of Mines, scored the fourth goal of his rookie season to lift FC Dallas over Chivas USA in the final game of the week. Suddenly, Dallas is unbeaten in seven matches, one away from matching the winless run that directly preceded it.

The Oregonian

Rank: 6 (Last week: 4)

Comment: Unbeaten streak now at seven games, in part powered by rookie forward Tesho Akindele, who scored the lone goal in 1-0 win against Chivas and he has scored a goal in three of his past four games.

Soccer America

Rank: 5 (Last week: 5)

Comment: A team that looked lost in mid-May is unbeaten in its last seven games (4-0-3) after beating Chivas USA, 1-0. Fabian Castillo returned to the lineup after sitting out four games for making contact with a match official and set up Tesho Akindele to score his third goal in the last four games. During its streak, FCD hasn’t played any of the elite teams but points are points. Knee problems that have sidelined defender George John for the entire season necessitated surgery last week and he has been put on season-ending injured reserve.
