FC Dallas on Campus: Preseason edition

A lot of former FC Dallas academy kids are back in school for another year.

Maryland Athletics

The new college soccer season is under way and that means it is time to dust off the old FC Dallas on Campus series. Here is a quick look at the FCD academy players currently in the college and some other notes on each player.

[Note: If anyone is missing from this list, please let us know so we can add them for future updates. Thank you.]

Seniors

Boyd Okwuono (North Carolina) - One of the few seniors on this list, Okwuono is going to garner a lot of attention this season from all of us as we wait and see if he is offered a Homegrown deal this winter.

Jack Coleman (Duke) - Coleman will be going into his senior season at Duke. Last year he played in 16 games for the Blue Devils, starting eight of those matches.

Damian Rosales (SMU) - He'll be going into his red-shirt season season with the Mustangs. He was tied for second on the team last year in assists.

Juniors

Mikey Ambrose (Maryland) - Similar to Okwuono, another kid that has been high on all of our radars for a couple years now. Ambrose is going into his junior year at Maryland, which will be a big year for the Terps as they enter the Big 10 conference.

Aaron Guillen (Florida Gulf Coast) - Last season Guillen was named to the Atlantic Sun All-Conference first team. This defender will be going into his junior season with FGCU. Last year he started and played 16 matches.

Mark Ashby (Harvard) - The junior defender from Denton earned Ivy League second team honors last season.

Sophomores

Nicholas Rochowski (New Mexico) - Rochowski appeared in 21 matches as a red-shirt freshman in 2013. He played nearly 600 minutes last year for the Lobos and helped get them to the Sweet 16 of the College Cup tournament. Going into his red-shirt sophomore season I would expect more out of Rochowski in the New Mexico attack.

Caleb Underwood (SMU) - The sophomore keeper will be in competition with three other keepers this season in Highland Park.

Marco Carrizales (SMU) - He saw action in all 17 matches last season for the Mustangs.

Bobby Edet (Furman) - He led Furman with seven goals last season while starting 16 of 18 matches.

Marco Ortiz (Furman) - Started in 17 of 18 matches as a freshman and tallied two goals and two assists.

Victor Portillo (Liberty) - He came off the bench in 14 of the 15 games he appeared in last season as a defender.

Fernando Laverde (Central Florida) - Laverde stated all 18 games as a freshman last season for the Knights. He had three goals and four assists in 2013.

Freshman

Patrick Khouri (New Mexico) - The FCD U-18 midfielder will be a freshman at New Mexico this season. From the looks of things he may be red-shirting this season. Still, this kid has a good background with training stints in England and Spain along with some successful seasons with the academy teams.

Kristoffer Reaves (Wake Forest) - The former US U-18 defender has trained in England, Italy, and Brazil.

Jordan Cano (SMU) - The freshman defender was one of the top recruits for SMU this year. He's appeared with the US U17 team several times and could be a big impact player for the Mustangs.

Abdul Yassine (SMU) - The freshman forward/midfielder sat out the 2013 for his red-shirt season.

Will Coleman (Liberty) - Coleman was red-shirted in 2013.

Troy Reeves (Liberty) - The FCD U-18 defender could be a big recruit for Liberty. He's previous played in Italy with Carinaro's youth side.

Cesar Murillo (College of Charleston) - The freshman defender came to FCD via El Paso.
