Big D Daily: News for Friday, August 22, 2014

Game day is here as RSL is in town.

We have plenty to get to you all today around here with tonight's game. But first we'll dive into some morning links.

// FC Dallas //

FC Dallas revitalized under Pareja |

Probably one of the best reads any Dallas fan will have today if they haven't found this one already. This is a really good look at what Oscar Pareja has been able to do this season with guys like Tesho Akindele and Fabian Castillo.

Keys to the Match |

What are some big points for tonight's game? Let the FCD guys tell you.

Humility and hard work paying off for Akindele | Soccerly

If you didn't know it already but Akindele is a pretty level-headed dude.

// MLS //

Javier Morales to miss tonight's game | RSL Soapbox

I don't know if this is as huge of break as it sounds. But we'll certainly find out later tonight.

The Throw-In: Endings |

Jonah Freeman pens his final column for MLS as he is stepping away for a new job. This one is great like most of his work and even throws in a talk about Bobby Rhine.

Can Austin finally make the leap? |

A really cool look at what is going on down in Austin these days. I still hope that someone out there ponies up the cash for a team in that city. Mainly so I have an excuse to really go to Austin, or even move there down the road.

Can't hold Hamid back |

A pretty long piece here but worth a read given the news that Tim Howard is taking a step away from the USMNT for a year. Can Bill Hamid compete with Brad Guzan? I think it is possible.

Tim Leiweke will step away next June from TFC |

The man that brought you David Beckham and the return of Michael Bradley is leaving MLS. I just wonder if this will be for good or if he'll make another stop in a different market. My gut tells me he would be huge back in LA with whatever Chivas turns into.

Rosales and Reo-Coker swap teams |

Such an interesting trade for both sides. But one that makes you really wonder what is going on for Chivas here. Could it possibly be that they are going to sneak in an land Jermaine Jones? Remember, MLS does own that team right now.
