One way to prove doubters wrong is to go on the road and dominate. On Saturday night FC Dallas did just that as they routed the San Jose Earthquakes 5-0 at Buck Shaw Stadium.

Rookie forward Tesho Akindele scored his first career hat trick while Fabian Castillo scored two goals of his own in route to extending FC Dallas' unbeaten run to nine straight games.

The two sides traded chances for the first half hour of the match before Castillo struck first for FC Dallas in the 30th minute. The young Colombian broke free on an open run against San Jose's Jason Hernandez. Castillo overtook the defender 25-yards from goal and won possession of the ball, cut left away from the defender and then back towards Jon Busch's net. Castillo would simply flick the ball over the San Jose keeper to give Dallas the lead.

The goal extended Castillo's streak of consecutive matches with either a goal or an assist to 10 games.

The lead would double just before half time with Akindele's first of the night in the 43rd minute. Castillo helped set up this play as he found Akindele in the penalty box. The rookie forward made one move around a defender and smacked the ball into the net.

The Earthquakes nearly pulled a goal back just before halftime when Victor Ulloa was whistled for a foul on Chris Wondolowski in the box. Referee Jair Marrufo pointed to the spot but Wondolowski skied his attempt over the crossbar.

The lead would continue to extend in the second half. In the 58th minute, Castillo once again raced down past a defender and put in a hard shot on Busch. The San Jose keeper would stop that attempt but Akindele was waiting to poke it by as the San Jose keeper struggled to maintain possession of the ball.

Castillo would find the back of the net once again in the 75th minute. Substitute Blas Perez won the ball back for Dallas and knocked it into space. Castillo caught up to the ball on the left corner of the area, cut inside a defender and beat Busch low to the back post for Dallas' fourth goal of the match.

Akindele would score his hat trick right before the end of the match in the 86th minute following a corner kick from Michel. Busch would make a save on Perez but Akindele was once again there to followup on the rebound attempt.

FC Dallas will return home this Friday as they host the Western Conference leaders Real Salt Lake.
