Rankings Recap: FC Dallas Moving On Up

New, 7 comments

FC Dallas is slowly moving up after another solid display last week.

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

FC Dallas defeated Philadelphia 2-1 at home last week on July 4. Now, they have a week off of MLS action and set their sights on US Open Cup quarterfinal opponent's Carolina RailHawks.

Are these rankings right about FCD? Where do you think the Hoops belong? Which team surprised you?

Rank: 12 (Last week: 13)

Comment: Props to Dallas for surviving their injury glut and staying in the playoff picture. Now, with Mauro Diaz back, they can start to make a push.

Rank: 13 (Last week: 17)

Comment: Eight points in their last four matches is a good return for a Dallas team still adjusting to the loss of Mauro Diaz and now dealing with a four-game suspension for Fabian Castillo. An own goal and Blas Perez were enough to get a win at home over the Union.

The Oregonian

Rank: 6 (Last week: 10)

Comment: Stretched unbeaten streak to four after win against Philadelphia, but more importantly, the return of playmaking and scoring midfielder Mauro Diaz (out since April 26 with knee injury) will be a boost.

Soccer America

Rank: 9 (Last week: 10)

Comment: A right quadriceps injury suffered by keeper Chris Seitz as he took a goal kick soured a 2-1 defeat of Philadelphia. Tesho Akindele volleyed a chip from Blas Perez for his second goal of the season and with an own goal FCD captured the victory that extended its unbeaten streak to four games.
