2014 US Open Cup Semifinal Pairings Revealed: FC Dallas Can Host With Win Over Carolina

New, 5 comments

Should FC Dallas advance on Wednesday, they'll host the semifinal round.

Big news out of the US Soccer offices today regarding the 2014 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. Should FC Dallas down the Carolina Railhawks on Wednesday, they will host the winner of the Philadelphia Union-New England match on either August 12 or 13.

That is big considering the other side of the bracket would have potentially been a visit to either Portland or Seattle.

Semifinal winners of the 101st edition of the U.S. Open Cup will advance to the tournament's final on Sept. 30 or Oct. 1.

Avoiding a trip to Seattle or Portland in the semifinal round is pretty huge if you ask me. FC Dallas has a really good shot at going to the final with this pairing here. All they need to do is get past Carolina on Wednesday and they'll be in a good position to do so.

Just so you know, the August 12/13 game comes in-between two tough games with Colorado and San Jose.
