Overall thoughts on the game...
It was a well-played game today, with excellent execution by the players. The plan worked out very well. We wanted to stretch them. We didn't battle in the middle very much. Tesho (Akindele) and Blas (Perez) had a tremendous night and gave us a chance to work the game in the back.
During the second half, the team looked much more mature. It showed me a team that knows how to handle the peaks and valleys during a game and that, for me, is great. They controlled the energy and defended pretty well. We finished with a smile on our face because of the three points, because we got some players back, we saw Mauro and Thomas and the guys who are coming out of the nursery and coming onto the field. It was a great Fourth of July.
What stood out most...
It is a reward for our players who have been battling a lot of adversity. To come out with a win in front of their friends and families was magical. Tonight is one of those nights that makes you sleep good, proud of a job well done.
For this team it's very important and relevant to improve our balance on defending. As you've seen in the stats, the numbers that we have going forward are very good. Getting the sensation that we can defend our score and keep the lead was healthy for our group.
On what Tesho's performance says about him...
Character and personality. Sometimes we don't notice how a rookie can come back from a performance like he had at Columbus. He didn't lose confidence. Today he looked in my eyes and said "I'll get those goals back." We trust him and he's showing us that we were not wrong. We're seeing a player who played in the second division and now FC Dallas has an asset there. He's a great player and a great person.
On Blas Perez and Tesho Akindele...
That chemistry [between Blas and Tesho] is working very well. They're finding each other and they're working for each other very well. That combination is a good example of the chemistry they've developed throughout the season. They seem very natural in their movement and they're getting options. It's good to see that chemistry develop the way it has.
On getting Hendry Thomas and Mauro Diaz back from injury...
It made me smile. It's peaceful to see the talent on the field. I know that Mauro made us all feel that there is some magic in the air and that everything just calms down with him.

General thoughts on the match...
I feel like we played well. We did the right things. We did what we needed to do to get the three points tonight.
What did it feel like to play in front of a crowd like that?
It was great. Every time we have a crowd like that, we really want to capitalize and get the win, like we did tonight. It feels great to play well in front of the home town crowd.
On Philadelphia's offense...
I feel like we played well defensively against them. The mistake happened. We gave up a soft goal but those are things we can improve on as the season goes on - the defense, the midfield, our forwards... I felt like everyone did well tonight. We didn't get the clean sheet, but we got what we needed - the three points.
On getting Mauro Diaz back...
He is such a great asset to our team. We're happy... Everything he has done for the team so far this season... He was out for a while but we're really happy that he is back. He means a lot to this team. We had a rough spell of games [while Diaz was out]. We learned a lot from those games. We improved and I think we showed that today. If we keep playing like we were able to do today, we can achieve great things this season.
FC Dallas forward Tesho Akindele
Do you feel like the team is starting to peak again?
Definitely, it's a long season. There is going to be ups and downs. We believe that we have the team to have way more ups than downs.
Describe your relationship with Blas Perez...
We're always talking to each other. He obviously has a lot of experience and he gives me tips whenever he sees something that I can improve on. My goal was just a fantastic pass from him. I really didn't expect that ball to come through... Just a great play by him. We just have skills that complement one another. He is great at holding the ball up. I'm a little bit faster, where I can get in behind a defense. We hit teams with different types of attacks.
On his goal...
There was a big gap around me but I didn't think... I don't know how he got the ball through. I saw that space around me, but there were guys blocking the ball from getting through. He just chipped it perfectly.
FC Dallas defender Stephen Keel
General thoughts on the game...
At the end of the day we got three points and that was our goal coming into the match so we'll take it. It was nice to get Mauro [Diaz] and Hendry [Thomas] back from injury. You could see their impact on the game immediately in the second half. That's very positive for us. I'm disappointed that we conceded the goal. We really wanted to get back-to-back clean sheets but we'll take the three points and move on.
On being offensive minded from the onset...
Anytime we're at home, or even on the road now, given the personnel we have - we want to score goals. Obviously we want to stay organized in the back and then, when we can get going forward we will. Playing at home, awesome crowd, we wanted to get out and play some attractive attacking football.
On the play of Dallas' outside back, Moises Hernandez and Zach Loyd...
Mo [Hernandez] and Zach Loyd were busting their tails up and down the field all night. They're tireless workers. They both did awesome jobs defensively and then we were hurting Philadelphia by getting those two players forward with overlapping runs, by playing Philadelphia high and whipping balls into the area. That was part of the plan and I think we executed pretty well. Moises and Zach played extremely well.
