FC Dallas moves up five spots in's power rankings.

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

After a solid 2-0 home win, FC Dallas is sitting on a five game unbeaten run in MLS and eight game unbeaten run in all action. The Hoops are skyrocketing up MLS power ranking boards. Now they head to Vancouver in a pivotal game in the Western Conference.

Are these rankings right about FCD? Where do you think the Hoops belong? Which team surprised you?

Rank: 5 (Last week: 10)

Comment: Just when you thought they were due for another summer swoon, they've emerged as the team no one wants to play.

Rank: 11 (Last week: 12)

Comment: FC Dallas picked on the coldest team in MLS, the Revolution, in a 2-0 win in Frisco. All things considered, coach Oscar Pareja has done a yeoman's job keeping his team together through a string of injuries and suspensions. Nothing about FC Dallas jumps off the page 20 games into the season, yet they sit in second place in the Western Conference.

Sports Illustrated

Rank: 11 (Last week: 12)

Comment: Dallas is trending upward again, unbeaten in five, after an eight-game winless streak prior. That followed a good opening stretch that saw the team near the top of the Western Conference, but the second half of the season has been Dallas’ trouble spot the last couple years.

The Oregonian

Rank: 5 (Last week: 6)

Comment: Unbeaten streak at five games and moved into tie for second place with Real Salt Lake in the Western Conference. Next five games are against conference opponents, beginning with visit to Vancouver Sunday.
