MLS Fantasy Manager: Week 17

FC Dallas players host a struggling Philadelphia side.

Lineups lock at 7:30pm CT. Let's get to work.

FC Dallas

FC Dallas plays at home against the Philadelphia Union on Friday. The Union were struggling, but seem to be hitting a nice patch of play at the moment, and so is FCD. Should make for a great game.

Who to start/add

Andres Escobar $6.0 - This guy is really starting to make things happen. At only $6.0, he's a bargain.

Matt Hedges $8.6 - Hedges is back in action and ready to lead this team once again. The Union don't have a great attack. Could we see another clean sheet this week? Two in a row? That could be the case.

Who not to start/add

Blas Perez $8.4 - Perez has had an up and down season thus far. This will be a very physical game for Perez, who has to deal with the likes of Amobi Okugo and Maurice Edu, which could lead to some trouble for our short-fused friend.

Je-Vaughn Watson $6.0 - Man, I want the beginning of the season Watson back. He was on fire. I don't know what's wrong with this guy, but I hope he returns to form soon.

MLS

Chicago, Chivas, and Toronto all have double-game weeks.

Who to start/add

Jermain Defoe $11.3 - This guy won't stop scoring. With two games this week, who knows how many goals he can produce. I'd definitely consider captaining him.

Erick Torres $8.7 - Another guy who can't stop scoring and is on a double-game week.

Joe Bendik $5.0 - Goalies are the most likely to play the full 90 minutes in both games for teams with double-game weeks. Toronto has a double-game week and Bendik has played very well in the absence of Julio Cesar.

Who not to start/add

Andrew Wenger $5.5 - Wenger is only worth $5.5 and is the Union's starting forward. So cheap, but so not scoring any goals. FCD should shut him down.

Eddie Johnson $9.4 - For the price he costs, he isn't producing enough at all... He only has one goal and one assist all season. I think the absence of Fabian Espindola will hurt him even more. But, it could be just what he needs to start scoring again.

Federico Higuain $10.3 - Higuain played just 23 minutes against FCD last week. He is still trying to become fit. My guess is he will start this week, but who knows how long he will go and how effective he can be.

No byes this week.
