FC Dallas extends unbeaten run to five games with 2-0 win over New England

Goals from Andres Escobar and Tesho Akindele were enough as FC Dallas earned a shutout.

FC Dallas earned their third shutout of the season in a 2-0 win over the New England Revolution on Saturday evening.

FCD got goals from Andres Escobar and Tesho Akindele to help seal the three points on the night and push the unbeaten run in league play to five games.

FC Dallas mounted a lot of pressure in the first half, including a couple good chances by Andres Escobar. In the 17th minute the Colombian got a wide open chance outside of the penalty box but his shot was brushed aside by New England keeper Bobby Shuttleworth.

Escobar would get FC Dallas on the board minutes later in the 29th minute as he took the ball off a rebound from a Tesho Akindele shot that rattled off the crossbar. Escobar would dribble to beat two defenders in the penalty box before ripping a shot over Shuttleworth. The goal was Escobar's second of the season in league play.

The second half was full of chances for FC Dallas as they outshot the Revs 24-to-9 on the night with nine corner kicks. Shuttleworth had nine saves on the night in the loss for New England including several big second half saves on Akindele and Escobar.
