FC Dallas injury update: Hendry Thomas out with ACL tear

The latest injury report is a little more full than last time.

Joshua S. Kelly-USA TODAY Sports

FC Dallas is getting set to host the New England Revolution on Saturday. Today's injury report came out with a couple more names listed on it than the previous MLS game did. But we expected that.

OUT: Kellyn Acosta (patella avulsion fracture), George John (right knee), Jair Benitez (left knee sprain), Hendry Thomas (ACL tear, left knee), Chris Seitz (quad tear right knee).

So there you go. I'll start with the one positive of the bunch. Acosta is getting closer to returning to action here. He has been seen practicing on the side at training, getting his strength back in his legs. My guess is that we may see him at the end of the month against Vancouver but I would put more money on the club waiting until sometime in early August when the schedule is a little more congested.

Now for the downside of things. Thomas is listed with an ACL tear in his left knee. We knew he would be going under the knife soon for another surgery but this basically confirms that he will be out for likely the remainder of the season. No word yet if the club has any plans of putting him on the injured reserve to open up a roster spot or not. At the most they could put him on the DL, which would be for six games. We'll keep you informed if that happens.
