The injury report is out ahead of tomorrow's clash with the Columbus Crew. The team is starting to get healthy again as we head into the second half of the season.
Out: Kellyn Acosta (patella avulsion fracture), Mauro Diaz (right knee surgery), George John (right knee)
Questionable: Michel (hamstring strain), Walker Zimmerman (hamstring strain), Matt Hedges (hamstring tightness), Hendry Thomas (muscle tear).
As you can see, the list is getting longer on the questionable side, which isn't a bad thing going into the second half of the season. All four players in the questionable boat have been training all week long and a couple were even back in training last week (Michel, Hedges). While none of these players played in the two US Open Cup games during the break, we should see at least Michel and Hedges tomorrow night.
We know that the other two did not travel:
Hendry Thomas not quite ready, is not traveling with FC Dallas to Columbus. Ditto for Walker Zimmerman.— Steve Hunt (@dfwsportsguy93) June 27, 2014
Some other injuries that never hit the injury report are also off the mark as well. Danny Garcia battled a hamstring injury for the last month but he is healthy again. The same can be said for striker David Texeira, who finally appeared last week in the USOC match against San Antonio.
The three players on the out portion of the report have different stories. Acosta is said to still be a couple weeks away from returning to training. Diaz is a little better outlook with the young DP doing some work on the side already at training, Oscar Pareja still predicts he will be back in the first part of July.
John on the other hand appears to be a completely different story altogether. The veteran defender has missed this entire season so far with a knee injury and all the signs appear to be pointing at him being out for the rest of the season as he may be having surgery later this summer. We will keep you up to date on that info as we get it though.
