Day one of the 2014 World Cup is in the books.

Going into yesterday evening, Fabian Castillo had a 'very narrow lead' over Chicago's Harrison Shipp for goal of the week. We'll know soon enough if he won or came in second.

There were some reports yesterday going around that should Qatar be stripped of the 2022 World Cup, that FIFA had already contacted US Soccer about hosting. That appears for now to be false.

Portugal continues to worry about Cristiano Ronaldo. I'm sure he'll be fine.

How Brazil avoided total panic in their win over Croatia |

It wasn't pretty, they certainly flopped, and yet they picked up a 3-1 win that could be big down the road thanks to goal differential.
