Around MLS: Orlando City SC stadium renderings unveiled, Hackworth dismissed, and more

Orlando City's stadium looks like it will be pretty sweet.

Orlando City Soccer

FC Dallas snapped their losing losing streak. Let's take a look at what else is happening around the MLS.

Orlando City stadium

Orlando City Soccer Club unveiled the renderings of their new downtown stadium set to open in 2016.

Honestly, it looks pretty sweet. Look at that lion in back left corner! Awesome!

The stadium will hold up to 19,500 fans in a full 360-degree lower bowl below ground level with a three-stand seating upper bowl. It will also feature full roof canopies (I wish FCD had this) that protect fans from the sun and rain. This also amplifies the sound of the crowd. The stadium will also have numerous other cool features.

Orlando will play their inaugural 2015 MLS season at the Orlando Citrus Bowl.

Philadelphia Union dismiss Hackworth

The Philadelphia Union announced Tuesday that the club parted ways with head coach John Hackworth.

Sitting in 8th place in the East after only three wins and 15 points in 16 games, Hackworth was dismissed from his duties. Former MLS player and assistant coach to Hackworth, Jim Curtain, will be the interim head coach for the time being.

This comes as a surprise to me. The Union made some good moves in the offseason and have a very talented roster. Bringing in the likes of Maurice Edu, Vincent Nogueira, and Cristian Maidana really set them up to have a nice season. I even predicted that Philadelphia would finish 5th in the East and just squeeze into the playoffs. For some reason, Hackworth couldn't make it work. I'm sure the next coach will be very happy with the team he has to work with.
