Well we finally have some official word. FC Dallas has announced on Wednesday that midfielder Mauro Diaz will have a procedure on his right knee next Tuesday.
He is expected to miss six to 10 weeks of action as a result of this procedure. To put that into prospective, a target return date for him is anywhere between right after the World Cup break in June and mid-to-late July. In total, he will pretty much be out for a third of the season, though that could be improved if his recovery time ends up being on the lower end of the projection.
Diaz left the D.C. United game the week before last before halftime. According to FC Dallas manager Oscar Pareja, Diaz had been dealing with some knee pain for some time now this season. The Argentine DP did miss the last couple games of the 2013 season with a knee injury as well.
Through the first eight games of 2014, he has scored three goals and tallied three assists, earning MLS Player of the Month honors for March.
