Raul Fernandez Nominated for Save of the Week

New, 1 comment

Superman was at it again with a diving save against Martin Rivero.

It was a moment in the game that could have been a nail in the FC Dallas coffin, instead Raul Fernandez made a sprawling save on Chivas USA midfielder Martin Rivero in the second half during Saturday's game.

Thanks to that save, Fernandez is now nominated for Save of the Week. His competition is pretty tough this week as he is going against D.C. United keeper Bill Hamid and defender Chris Korb's team save to deny Montreal from scoring twice; New England's Brad Knighton's flying stop on a long distance shot from Philadelphia defender Ray Gaddis; RSL keeper Jeff Attinella's double save against Rocky Mountain Cup rivals Colorado; and Houston's (boooo) defender David Horst's header after keeper Tally Hall was beaten by LA defender A.J. DeLaGarza's shot.

Be sure to head over to the league website to vote for Fernandez (as much as you can folks!). The FC Dallas keeper won save of the week in Week 10 and now hopes to double his tally to match Chris Seitz's back-to-back SotW efforts in Week 5 and 6.
