General thoughts on the match...

Obviously on a night where we were expecting to get three points, tonight was a disappointment for the team. We were hoping to get out of the struggle we've had during the last week and a half. The game became complicated after Chivas scored in the second half. During the first half we managed the game. We had some options, even if it was without the penetration that I would have liked to see from this team, but the game was controlled and we were waiting to get a real opportunity.

I knew since the first minute that Chivas was going to sit back and wait for any mistake in the back from us and that's what happened in the second half. We still had the character to come back to score a goal and had a couple of options that could have given us the three points. I know my players and I know that the disappointment is there.

What did you see from the team tonight and do you see progress for the team going forward?

I see a team that sat back and I can't question that because that's a fair strategy for any team. It's a way to get points sometimes. You're sitting back waiting for the other team to make a mistake and that's valid. We always had the initiative to play and we tried to somehow make up for the absences that we had in key plays that made us different and more dangerous in the last third. Chivas was a good rival today and they had a good system and plan.

Formation change

We need some feet in the middle and we found those feet with Jair. He's not going to be very consistent, for sure, because it's not his natural position, but we wanted to have someone who could penetrate some balls in. We wanted to stretch this team. We knew that they were going to sit back and having Fabian up top with Blas and give him some pressure and some solutions for us.

We had a couple of sequences where we got what we wanted. It was not very fluid or very constant but we saw it. Obviously you saw the first half and the second half were the same.

Adam Moffatt

I thought [Adam Moffatt] worked hard and he, along with Victor, took control of the core of the field the whole time. It took us a little longer than we wanted to spread the ball quickly from the middle, but they did a good job. What I asked them to do, they did.

Fabian Castillo

Fabian is a young man still who is getting mature and gaining experience. Today when he was off the field, he was brave enough to be back because he knew that his team needed him and I thought that the game gave him the chance. That just shows the commitment that he has and I will always support the guys in these kind of actions.

FC Dallas forward Fabian Castillo
On his goal...

Jair [Benitez] took the corner kick and had it come back out to him. He put a good ball in and Matt [Hedges] let it run on to me. It was right there for me to finish it.

On scoring his first goal since the last time he played against Chivas USA...

I don't know what it is but every time I play against coaches that are Colombians, I score. I scored the last time we played against Chivas USA [coached by Wilmer Cabarrea] and when Oscar Pareja was coaching Colorado, I scored as well.

FC Dallas midfielder Victor Ulloa
On seeing a lot of minutes lately...

I'm happy that coach is playing me and I got another 90 minutes. Unfortunately we tied. It's a sour tie. We wish we could have gotten more but we'll take a point. We'll remember this point for sure.

What are the things about this game that stick out to you?

From the beginning of the match, Chivas USA sat back. I think everybody noticed. It was tough for us to break them down. The goal they scored was just a miscue from us. It was a tough game.

On playing with several different players in the midfield in the past few weeks...

I have been paired with [Hendry] Thomas the whole time but I feel the same [playing alongside Adam Moffat]. We all know our jobs. We have a lot of depth on our roster. I felt comfortable. I thought we did well.

Talk about the differences playing in a 4-4-2 tonight rather than a 4-5-1...

Yea, the game plan was a little bit different. Fabian [Castillo] was playing as more of a striker. We came out like that based on the video that we watched this week. We tried something different but I think overall the team was the same. We had the same discipline. We had the same concepts.

FC Dallas defender Matt Hedges
General thoughts on the match...

We got a point. We got off the unlucky 16 points so... We're moving on. Getting one point is obviously better than losing. We were down a goal, so it's good. We're just looking to get three points each time out. We could have gotten it today.

On playing next to Stephen Keel again...

Yea, I felt comfortable. We form a solid partnership.

On Chivas USA's goal...

I hesitated when [Mauro Rosales] was dribbling towards goal. I was deciding whether to go or stay and once I took a step towards the ball, he played it to [Marco Delgado]. He knew I was about to commit. I tried to make a challenge on the ball, tried to step out but he played a nice ball. It's frustrating but we just have to keep going.
