MLS Fantasy Manager: Week Eight

New, 1 comment

FC Dallas is going on the road for just the third time this season.

This week's fantasy manager preview is coming early again due to the game between Houston and New York Wednesday night. You need to be prepared. Let's take a look at who to start and who not to start.

FC Dallas

FCD is coming off a 2-1 win at home to Michael Bradley and Toronto FC. Now they set their eyes on D.C. United as they go on the road for the third time this season. Now we are really going to find out what this team is made of.

Who to start/add

Mauro Diaz $8.6 - Diaz has proven to be the safest pick on FCD so far this season. He is consistently getting points week in and week out. This week should be a week where we see him creating more chances than usual against a D.C. United side who has yet to gel.

Blas Perez $8.8 - After we saw David Texeira start and play in a lot of the reserve game for FCD, I think it's safe to assume Perez will be back and starting. This FCD team is not the same without him on the pitch. Look for Perez to be involved a lot.

Who not to start/add

Hendry Thomas $6.5 - Thomas is a great player and huge for FCD in breaking up midfield play. But, he will not get you a lot of fantasy points.

Je-Vaughn Watson $6.3 - Watson had a hot start to the season. But, he hasn't played all that great the past two games. If I were you, I'd consider starting someone else and proceed with caution.

This week we have two teams that will play two games each. Houston will play New York and Portland. New York will play Houston and Columbus. Plan accordingly.

Who to start/add

Will Bruin $8.4 - Bruin has played the full 90 minutes every game except for one for Houston thus far. With a double game week coming up, I'd suspect he starts both and plays the majority of the time in both. Will he get back to his scoring ways in one of Houston's two games? I think so.

Lloyd Sam $7.0 - Sam has led RBNY is fantasy scoring so far this season. He will consistently put up a solid 4-6 points each week. Like Bruin, Sam has played the full 90 in all but one game. New York also has a double game week and Sam should play in the majority of both as well.

Clint Dempsey $10.5 - Dempsey has been the man on fire and in form this season. He leads all of fantasy players with 52 points and has a good matchup against Colorado at home. You should seriously consider captaining him this week.

Who not to start/add

Darren Mattocks $7.6 - Mattocks has been scoring some goals recently for Vancouver. But, I wouldn't play him this week. Vancouver faces Real Salt Lake on the road. RSL has stout defending and a brilliant goalkeeper in Nick Rimando to back them up.

Matias Laba $6.9 - Yup. Another Vancouver player. RSL will dominate the midfield in this one. Laba has only 17 points thus far this season. I wouldn't expect him to get too much out of this one.

Carlos Bocanegra $7.0 - Chivas USA are going on the road this week to face San Jose. It seems San Jose has an unlimited amount of attacking power these days. Chris Wonodolowski and the Quakes will be too physical for Bocanegra and the Chivas back line.

Bye Week: Chicago Fire, Los Angeles Galaxy, Toronto FC
