Two FC Dallas Academy Players Called Up To US U-17 Team

Alejandro Zendejas and Weston McKennie make up part of the small MLS academy group with the U-17s.

US Under-17 national team head coach Richie Williams named a 22-player squad on Tuesday for the upcoming Josip Katalinski International Tournament in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina.

FC Dallas has two academy players that were called into action by Williams. Forward Weston McKennie also rejoins the team after playing in the Nike Invitationals and midfielder Alejandro Zendejas was named as well.

They are two of seven MLS academy players called up by Williams for the tournament, which runs from Thursday through Sunday. The United States team will play against the Montenegro U-17 national team on Thursday and then will play the Sarajevo Select team the following day. The results will help determine which Placement Match the team plays in on Sunday against the Bosnia U-17 national team, Belgrade Select or the Macedonia U-17 national team.

The US U-17s will then cap off their trip with a pair of friendlies against Croatia on April 8 and 10.
