Quote Sheet:

FC Dallas head coach Oscar Pareja
General thoughts on the match...

It was a very exciting game for the fans who came out to support us. You could feel the energy from the fans and the energy they provided from the stands was awesome. Another thing was that the character and effort displayed from our players today was outstanding. There were also some beautiful goals that the audience enjoyed in front of a very good rival with a coach who we respect. They were a team that did a very good job last year and they measured us now to see where we are.

On Watson's red card...

It happened too fast from where we were [to see]. The explanation from the referees was that there was retaliation but I did not see anything. I have to see the video. I spoke with the player and he said that he did not do anything. We have to respect the law and sometimes we may disagree, but that's the way it is.

On continuing undefeated...

We've started well and we're happy. We know where we are and we don't want to think too much about what we have not done before. We're developing a culture of taking it one game at a time, without giving importance to what happened last season or what will happen. The league is intense and the season is long. We have our feet on the ground and are taking it one game at a time.

On academy players seeing action...

It's great to see our academy team up on the field. Our whole academy program and staff, the coaches, the people who have been part of this program for many years now are seeing their products on the field. I know a lot of people, especially our ownership, envisioned it that way. I know this is a night we won't forget because we saw that play out on the field.

On how Victor Ulloa played in his first start tonight...

His second half was great. He proved to himself and many people that he can play this game. I'm very proud of Victor. For him, tonight is special because he is a kid who has overcome a lot of challenges. Tonight was a good show of that character. Soccer has not given him anything. He has earned it. Every inch he has gotten in this game, he's earned.

FC Dallas Defender Kellyn Acosta
On the physicality of the game...

(With) both teams fighting for 3 points, of course it's going to be like that. Both teams were working hard, 10 on 10, so there was a lot of space. It was kind of a back-and-forth game, and we kept pushing and pushing.

Gameplan adjustments due to midfield injuries...

We just slid Michel and Victor (Ulloa) in and they did a tremendous job. (For) two players who don't exactly play with each other all the time, I thought they had a lot of chemistry together. They worked hard and they played well.

On his assist to Blas Perez in the first half...

I just recognized their spacing at the back post, usually that would be Je-Vaughn's position, so I just found my moment to step forward and luckily the ball found me and I headed it across the goal and Blas got onto the end of it.

FCD Midfielder Mauro Diaz

On his goal...

The ball bounced around in the box, and it was just there for me. I didn't have any doubts about taking the shot.

On the team's performance with three midfielders missing...

The first 15-20 minutes, it was a little difficult. We struggled a little bit trying to keep possession, but after that we played well, found our game, found our goal. And in the second half it was a lucky bounce and they got their goal, but we never put our heads down, we kept fighting and then we got our second goal and the whole team fought.

On winning all three home games, three wins...

It's just the beginning. It's just three games, but we know that's what we've got to do. We've got to win at home, so that's the way to go.

On Victor Ulloa's first start...

He did very well. We knew we were playing against a very difficult opponent, and everybody's ready, everybody's waiting for a chance, and any chances there he did very well.

FCD Midfielder Victor Ulloa
On his start...

It's amazing. What can I say? It's a dream come true. I'm just happy for the opportunity from the coach, the confidence, and it's a good day for me and my family and everybody that believes in me.

The gameplan for him filling in at midfield...

The plan was to keep things the same. Consistency is what the coach wants and it's what I was trying to give him.

On the number of people he had here tonight...

I had everybody here, all of my family. I have a big family so my parents, my aunts and uncles, all my friends, all the people that followed me when we were in the academy. Everybody just supporting me.

On his nerves to start the game...

The first 15 minutes I was a little nervous. I lost some easy balls that I could (normally) do all day, and I think I settled in after those first 15 minutes.

Was there a particular touch on the ball that showed you you could do this?

Yeah, on the first touch I gave it too hard to Matt. My second and my third touches got away from me, but I think on my fourth and fifth touches, I settled down and I thought 'I completed it' and all the pressure, all my nerves went away.
