FC Dallas Injury Report: Week 2

New, comments

We're slowly getting everyone back to health here.

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

While Sporting Kansas City was busy dealing with Cruz Azul in the CONCACAF Champions League last night, FC Dallas was busy preparing for their weekend match with the defending MLS Cup Champions.

FCD has been back at it in training this week and manager Oscar Pareja had some players returning from injury. Here is the latest injury update from the team.

The good

According to the club's PR department, both central midfielders Hendry Thomas and Adam Moffat returned to practice yesterday and should be available for Pareja come Saturday against SKC.

Thomas had left the season opener early with a sprained ankle. It looked as though he picked it up in the first half against Montreal and continued to play on it until Pareja subbed him out in the second half. Ankle sprains are tricky and tend to linger but hearing he was participating in a full training session is a good thing.

The improving

The club also got keeper Raul Fernandez back to training as well. The Peruvian keeper had been sidelined with a hip injury from late last year and is finally looking more like his normal self. I would imagine we won't see him for another week though as Pareja appears to be taking his time with players coming back from injuries like this.

The same will likely go for defender Zach Loyd, who has been training all week according to the club. Again, Loyd is another player that Pareja can take his time with given how well Kellyn Acosta has done at right back.

The wait and see

Lastly, there is defender George John. I've been told he is still a few weeks away from being back in the lineup. In a small way I am fine with John sitting out a few more weeks if it means he comes back at 100%.
