We touched briefly on the 2014 International Champions Cup in today's morning links. But now we're getting more details as to who will be coming to the Dallas-Fort Worth area for this year's game. Currently the two teams set to play in Dallas are Italian side AS Roma and Spanish giants Real Madrid, according to sources.
The game is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, July 29, likely at AT&T Stadium (aka Jerry World, aka the DeathStar). For those wondering, FC Dallas is on the road two days prior to that match when they visit Vancouver.
One thing to keep in mind is that the World Cup ends on July 13 this year. Should players go far with their countries in that tournament, it may cause their clubs to bring some 'B' squads over to this event. Hopefully for those wanting to see Cristiano Ronaldo, the United States will do their job and knock Portugal out early in the group stage.
All eight teams will be divided into two groups and will play three matches. The winners of each group will move on to the final, which is set to be played at Sun Life Stadium near Miami.
The games will be played in 12 cities across the United States - Dallas, Washington DC, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Denver, Miami, Phoenix, Charlotte, Ann Arbor, Hartford, New York and Philadelphia.
The official schedule is set to release on February 20, once it is out we will have more details on how to get tickets for this event.
