A Christmas Eve edition of the news

Wait, I'm going to Houston?
Wait, I'm going to Houston?

Yesterday was certainly a slow news day until the evening hit. We'll get into that in a moment on today's special Christmas Eve edition of the links.

Community Post: What you're wishing for in 2015 | Big D Soccer

A little ICYMI from yesterday, we're doing a holiday list for things we're hoping to see out of FCD in the new year.

Dynamo sign Torres | Dynamo Theory

They spent the big money to get their man but Erick Torres won't be there until the summer of 2015. My gut tells me that FCD would have been in the hunt had it not been for that six month loan. I can't say I blame them all that much for that part of it but FCD would have been fine to wait six months for him.

Yedlin makes move to England official | Sounder at Heart

Work permit in hand, DeAndre Yedlin is now free to move across the pond.

The crazy way Portland got rid of Ricketts | Stumptown Footy

People like myself were shocked when Orlando snagged Donovan Ricketts in the Expansion Draft but it turns out there was a lot more to that move than what we all saw. We've seen FCD use these rules in the past to dump a hefty contract.

Orlando hopes USL experience gives them an edge over NYCFC | The Mane Land

If anything, the few years in the USL will give them the experience in running a team, dealing with the local city, etc. etc.

RBNY lands Curits as their new Sporting Director | MLSSoccer.com

This is a bit of a wild one for me personally. Back in high school I attended a soccer camp at Duke where Ali Curtis was my team coach. The dude was awesome back then and now he is taking over the Sporting Director role at RBNY. I have to say this is a good hire putting the personal opinions aside. Curtis has been involved in the Homegrown rule in MLS for the last few year, among other things.

Alright, that is all that I have for today. I hope you and your family have a very Happy Christmas.
